The problem
Redhill Extra is an Instagram-first local media brand covering Redhill, Reigate and Horley in Surrey. The audience lived on Instagram; the credibility did not. An advertiser who went looking for the brand on Google found nothing to check, and a news site that Google will not show is a weak argument in an advertising pitch.
What I did
- Built the site itself. This is the same project shown in the builds showcase, so indexing started at the markup level instead of being bolted on afterwards
- Structured the advertise section as per-town pages for Redhill, Reigate and Horley, the same pattern covered in the location-pages guide
- Tracked all 26 URLs in Search Console: news stories, the business directory, the advertiser pages, and the boring but necessary policy pages
- Result: 26 of 26 indexed, including the time-sensitive news posts
A small site, deliberately. The point is not volume. When the build and the indexing are the same job, every page goes in and nothing gets quietly left out.
